Wedding Venue & Reception
When planning your big day there are so many factors that you need to account for. The bridal party, décor, photographer, the caterer, the guests, the accommodation. At Gouritz Valley Weddings we can assured you that we only make use of familiar and reliable suppliers to make your dream wedding come true.
Keep calm and get married at Gouritz Valley!
The venue can take up to 160 people inside and another 50 – 80 people on the front deck. The venue is directly linked to the Cape Dutch Farm house where the bride’s close family & bridesmaids can stay. The open-air forest chapel has a very carefully design wrought iron frame to create a romantic outdoor atmosfeer for your guests and wedding party.
The forest chapel gives you that informal and romantic feeling. Your guest are feeling closer and more intimately part of the marital ceremony and wedding vows. The garden links the forest chapel with the reception hall. There is a spacious deck directly on the front north facing side of the reception hall. This massive area is perfect for your pre-drinks after the forest ceremony and before the formal reception. The deck is lovely on sunny & even on windy days, with the surrounding palm trees offering just enough shade, and it is entire blocked off from any direct wind. You can also cover this area with a bohemian tent if you are getting married in the rainy season.
Please enquire on this specifically is you do require such services. The venue has beautiful open hallways and exposed timber trusses with exposed thatch that gives you a very warm and welcoming feeling. The main hall is where the ‘private courtyard’ of the original Cape Dutch house was. There are South, North-West & North wings extending the main hall area. These wings creates very intimate & cosy ‘dining-rooms’ for the guests. These days most bridal parties are trying to move away from the traditional ‘city-hall- like’ weddings. And that is exactly what we would like to create. An old world classy wedding with atmosphere.
“ We attempt to create a very intimate atmosphere and cosy look and feel in the wedding hall by creating seating spaces inside the reception area. We have designed the South wing with a fireplace on the East end with another cosy seating area for the guest. This gives guests the opportunity to socialise with people away from their tables. ”
The bar is situated at the West end of the South Hall. With Oregon pine floors and high ceilings this also creates that old world feel and the fact that it is not inside the main hall does help a lot with the flow of the party and the acoustic. The reception hall varies from a modern classical take to an old world look and feel with a combination of old and new. The crystal chandelier in the main hall with a stark white ceiling, and exposed timber and thatch in the wings with brass chandeliers, creates contrast and balance. The structure is so beautiful, you do not have to add to or take anything away from it. You can just use it and built on it with some special touches to give your wedding your personal look, but you do not need draping or any drastic add-ons, and this will save you money too. The surrounding trees creates a wonderful atmosphere, and when draped in fairy light it creates romantic atmosphere at night as well.
